CAVA is a member of the Federation of Authorised Validating Agencies (FAVA), the other members of which are the Assessment and Qualifications Alliance, the Southern Area Access Validating Agency, Open College Oxford Thames & Chiltern and Ascentis. All these AVAs operate independently from the National Open College Network (NOCN).

The aims of FAVA are as follows:

• to promote high quality access to HE provision;
• to provide a mutually supportive forum for the discussion of issues that affect members;
• to share best practice and experiences between members;
• to benchmark Access performance between members;
• to promote and share staff development activities between members;
• to recognise and research the national needs of members;
• to keep QAA and other relevant bodies informed of the current issues affecting Colleges and HE institutions in relation to Access;
• to promote and publicise FAVA and its activities with relevant organisations.
