The Cambridge Access Validating Agency (CAVA) validates Access to Higher Education Diploma courses. CAVA is licensed as an Access Validating Agency by the Quality Assurance Agency for HE, which provides national recognition for Access courses and is a private, non-profit-making Company Limited by Guarantee.
CAVA’s objectives are to advance education and in particular to act as an Access Validating Agency, hence securing national recognition for Access courses to Higher Education which will:
facilitate the entry of students into Higher Education by validating programmes of appropriate level and content, alternative to the courses provided by other educational, vocational or professional examining authorities;
provide an assurance of quality to students and receiving institutions;
encourage provision of Access courses for community groups which are under-represented in Higher Education, and hence promote equal opportunities;
promote good practice and collaboration in the provision of Access courses and the admission of Access students;
monitor and disseminate information about Access provision.
