CAVA Assessment Training 1
CAVA Assessment Training 1 will include the following topics within 120 minutes, delivered by Dr Simon Child, Head of Assessment Training at the Cambridge Assessment Network.
Topic 1: purposes and principles of good assessment
This first session topic gives participants an understanding of the key terminology and underlying principles of assessment design. In the session, participants will first consider the role and purposes of assessment in their context, before considering the key terminology. The aim of this session is for them to reflect on the relationship between concepts such as validity, reliability, fairness alongside more practical concerns, such as assessment manageability.
Topic 2: Assessment design and online assessment
The second session topic will build on the knowledge of key assessment concepts explored in the first session. Participants will learn how to collect and interpret evidence about their assessments so that they can be confident they have high validity. This will explore the challenges of collecting and interpreting evidence using different assessment methods (e.g. portfolios). Later in this session, participants will explore issues around moving assessments online.
I would like to attend this event which has been approved by our overall co-ordinator Jolene Hogan . I am attending for the Access team at the Penwith College site. Please do let me know if this means I have now registered for this event as I could not see a booking link as such.
Many thanks,
